Daniel Lorenzo Parra
Ophthalmologist (MD, FEBO, PhD)
Dr. Lorenzo has a degree in Medicine from the University of Barcelona (2006). He completed the specialty of Ophthalmology in 2011 at Bellvitge University Hospital. He also has a Master’s degree in Research in Clinical Sciences (2011) from the University of Barcelona. He received his PhD (Cum Laude) from the University of Barcelona in 2019 (title: “Analysis of patients with long survival in metastatic uveal melanoma”).
Since 2015 he has been a member of the Ophthalmology Service at Bellvitge University Hospital, where he works in the Retina-Vitreous Unit and in the Ocular Oncology Unit. He combines his clinical work caring for patients at the hospital with basic research in collaboration with the team of professionals at the IDIBELL.
His research focus is mainly on the study of the molecular pathways of uveal melanoma in animal models. He is also interested in developing new forms of ocular brachytherapy.
